Port Macquarie foreshore plans revealed

ABC reports that the New South Wales Government in Australia has released a long-awaited plan for the development of waterfront land in Port Macquarie.
The Minister for Lands, Tony Kelly, says the plan of management covers Crown waterfront land between Settlement Point and Town Beach and includes the Hastings River. He says it proposes a range of possible uses, including tourism, hospitality, waterfront recreation, retail and boating facilities.
The Minister says foreshore development sites and enhanced public access to the waterfront between Settlement Point and Town Beach are given equal weight.
He says the plan also includes a dredging strategy in recognition of the importance of the lower Hastings River estuary.
Local residents are encouraged to have their say on the plan, which is on public display until April 13th.

"There's been an enormous amount of consultation, the Department of Lands wants to make sure people are fully consulted and that's why some people have suggested this has taken too long."
