Van Oord gets under way with dredging project at Port of Beira

Macauhub reports that dredging work on the main access channel to the port of Beira in Mozambique’s Sofala province got under way warlier this week.

Quoting the Mozambican newspaper Notícias, the report said the work is scheduled to take 14 months and cost Euros 43 million, of which Euros 23 million are to be paid for by the government via funding from the European Investment Bank (EIB).

Another Euros 10 million is being provided in the form of a  donation from the Dutch government’s development initiative.

A Ductch company, Van Oord Dredging and Marine Contractors has been contracted to carry out the dredging work.
