Dredging to resume at Port of Melbourne to cap dredged material

News // November 17, 2010

The Port of Melbourne in Australia says dredging is set to resume in Port Phillip Bay with the dredger vessel Cornelis Zanen arriving to deposit a cap of clean sand and complete what the port called the 2009-2011 routine maintenance dredging.

Dredging took place earlier this year around the channel to Station Pier, and around a number of berths. This work was not part of the Channel Deepening Project, which was completed earlier this year.

The dredged material from these areas was placed in the Port of Melbourne's dredged material ground, and must now be covered with a cap of clean sand.
