Nigerian government approves Phase 4 of Onne Port Complex

OTAL reports that the Nigerian Government has approved Phase 4 of the Onne Port Complex at Port Harcourt, Rivers State. The cost will be approximately US$370.5 million.

The decision was made by the Federal Executive Council [FEC]. The contract for fast tracking the development of Phase 4 at Onne Port complex has been let to Intels [Nigeria] Ltd. Intels completed Phases1-3 of the project.

The scope of work includes sand filling and land reclamation, widening of the channel entry, construction of berth 9, 10 and 11 and the Federal Ocean Terminal with 12m draft and enhancement of existing ports facilities.

The new phase of work is required in order to help cope with increased shipments in the oil and gas sector.
