DEME confirms role in Doha Airport project

Belgian dredging and marine contractor DEME has confirmed that on December 1st 2004, Doha International Airport Steering Committee awarded a contract for dredging and reclamation of the platform for the New Doha international Airport to a consortium of four dredging companies.The members of this consortium are the local Qatar Dredging Company, Dredging International of Belgium, Great Lakes Dredging & Dock in the US and Royal Boskalis Westminster of the Netherlands.
Qatar Dredging Company is a Qatari-Belgian joint venture company between the Belgian company Dredging International (DEME-Group), a private Qatari partner UDC and the Government of Qatar.
The US based engineering company Bechtel is the Project Engineering, Procurement and Construction Management (EPCM) contractor and client representative.
