Committee OKs bill for Manitowoc dredging project Project Updates
// August 8, 2003
The Herald Times newspaper in the US says legislation approved by the US House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee authorizing the US Army Corps of Engineers to provide dredging assistance for the Manitowoc River and harbor is "welcome news to the city."
Two provisions in the bill will directly aid the city of Manitowoc. The first authorizes US$300,000 to dredge the Manitowoc River, between the federal channel and the Canadian National Railroad bridge, from 12ft to 18ft.
The second authorizes dredging to increase the depth of the federal channel to 23ft through a 100ft wide swath in Manitowoc Harbor.
