Dredge disposal costs likely to increase at Port of Newport
Project Updates - April 4, 2003
The News-Times newspaper reports that the cost for the removal and disposal of sediment from the South Beach marina area and Port Docks 5 and 7 at the Port of Newport have increased by $2,440.The newspaper said the port's board of commissioners have added that sum to the $8,840 already allocated for sampling.
Statewide Environmental received the contract from the port to take samples of sediments that will be tested to determine whether they can be safely disposed of at sea, rather than placed in a disposal site on land.
