Congressman announces funds for North Carolina inlet dredging News
// March 11, 2005
Enough federal money has been found to keep three shallow inlets along the North Carolina coast open for boating traffic this summer.
Rep Walter B Jones, R-NC, announced earlier this month that the US Army Corps of Engineers will allocate additional money for dredging New River, Bogue and Carolina Beach inlets this year.
Money will be reallocated in the existing budget to provide US$210,000 for New River Inlet, US$300,000 for Bogue Inlet and US$370,000 for Carolina Beach Inlet, Jones' office said in a statement.
The money will allow the navigation channels of each of these three inlets to be dredged twice this year.
