NDDC to dredge canal
Local newspapers report that the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has started a N1 billion contract to check the incursion of the sea in the Ayetoro sea front area and dredge the main canal from Araromi to Owoye in Ondo state.
In the past, the activities of the offshore industry in the area have been blamed for the loss land on which coastal communities have been based.
An Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) is being conducted by a consultancy firm prior to the dredging work being carried through.
