Israeli firm completes new quay and related dredging work

Oceana Marine, part of the Oceana Group in Israel, has completed a major marine construction and dredging project on behalf of the Eilat-Ashkelon Oil Pipeline Company Ltd.

Completed in January of this year, the 12 month project required Oceana to re-build the existing breakwater at the Ashkelon basin in Eilat, close the existing northern entrance to the quay located there, and open a new western entrance.

Oceana was also responsible for the construction of a new, 100m long tugboat quay, and land reclamation and extensive dredging work.

The project involved 130,000m3 of maintenance dredging in the approach channel to the quay and the adjoining turning basin, plus 30,000m3 of capital dredging work and 20,000m3 of land reclamation work for the construction of the new berth.
